AoS Second Edition

I still glue them usually, otherwise you get little gaps.
But it is kinda nice if a newcomer can put them together without putting glue everywhere.

Funny thing, all the minies in the box are snap fit and won't need any glue. I wonder if this will be a thing that will happen too other, newer, figures as well.

I believe this is because of this box being friendly to the newcomers, as all starters are "glue free"

Correct - this has always been the case with boxed games, although like @Aginor I do prefer to glue the looser components so they don’t fall apart during a game.

They're also a tad easier to glue as they're less fiddly. No stupid arms that refuse to keep pointing upwards and keep falling down. Having em stick together helps a lot with frustration for that.

It's a neat box, but I'm confused by 1 thing. The hell is up with the weird amount of models? 8 Sequitors, 3 Evocators, 4 grimghast reapers. None of those seem like appropriate unit sizes for the given models.

The unit sizes seem Somewhat odd, but that might just be how they are sized. One thing i find really weird is the additional boxes of sequitors and glaivewraiths. The sequitors has three models, and that won't add up for the soulwar box. The glaivewraiths has four models, and that won't add up either.

Maybe in the new edition you can pay for single models instead of paying for a new unit entirely. That would be neet.

It would be great if they brought that Fantasy mechanic in, but I don’t expect it will be likely :(

To be honest:
The truth may just be that the box content isn't playable in matched play.
Same with other boxes by GW that give you odd numbers of models. You are supposed to either play the game in open or narrative play, or buy more boxes.

I'm going to be at a writing retreat on a remote North Carolina mountain top with no cell phone or internet service on 16th June, and so will not be able to preorder! I hope my local GW orders in plenty of store stock beyond preorders. I plan to buy the basic rulebook, the GHB18, the magic box, and the command dice to start off.

Those other boxes where designed before matched-play was a thing though. Or at least the ones I know of.

The only exception to that being the very small starter set thingies with like 3-4 models to get people interested in the game.

Everything else either comes with a full set of stuff, or is a box from the pre-GHB (or even pre-AoS) era.

I'm not sure if that'd be such a good idea. I could imagine certain "abusive" tactis could pop up then, like fielding 20 units of 1 clanrat so that your opponent wastes 99% of his attacks as the wounds can't spill over to the next unit. 40K doesn't seem to field the same degree of hordes and fodder like AoS seems to so I think it probably works better there.

Minimum size unit so you can't just have one on it's own.

Maybe those small packs are for:
- Shadespire
- Easy to start
- Skirmish
- Path to glory

The new nighthaunt Chainrasp horde has any number of models.

Which would imply points per model..

meh, I suppose it could work if you only do it for the more "elite" units, preferably ones that don't have special weapons. The minimum size wouldn't matter much and adding 1 additional liberator or saurus guard is actually usefull as opposed to adding 1 clanrat.

Exactly, so GW can get MORE MONEYYYYYY!!!!!! :greedy:

Also factor in that you then have to separately purchase the General's Handbook 2018 as well.

mhwa, could just be bad phrasing. The Tzaangor warscroll claims you field em per 5 and the GHB immeadiatly made that 10, so not like warscrolls are all that reliable even if they're new.

I like those new heroes though. They're actually capable fighters on their own while still being clearly supportive in nature. I hope they can manage that balance on more heroes.

That wouldnt be bad phrasing but terrible phrasing. A small 'typo' is possible while testingen and adjusting 5 to 10 and forgetting to put that into the unit roster.

I dont see how you could 'change' this Line with anything else more logical.

''Chainrasp horde has any number of models"

But we Will see in a few days.

PS. God I hate my android keyboard, constantly trying to change English to Dutch..
