Your right I will do a thread, will get some liquid thought juice tonight and see if that starts working.

Sounds good! Any rough ideas on what type of terrain piece you might make? Will it be Lizardmen specific terrain (which I have to do one day) or just general warhammer fantasy terrain?

Both I think, first off I have an idea of a tower on a hill with a haunted wood theme

Personally I really liked the look of the stone you posted on the first page.

With this in mind, if it had been mine I think I would have rough up the edges a little. Make a circle to place it, and place some skulls at the base of the stone. Then after finish painting it, carefully "splatter" some red paint around the icon, just as if some one has just been praying there throwing blood at it.

Wow, those look great! Sorry I haven't been able to look at your work for a while.

I really like the stone with symbol! It could work for so many things; Bane Stone, Sinister Statue, Waystone, etc...

I agree with The Red Devil, I'd rough up the edges. That was the first thing I thought when I saw it. If you want to make it pop, you could always paint it to appear as though the symbol were glowing. (I'm thinking Warpstone.) Plus the cavity that the symbol is sitting in would make a perfect area for light sourcing! The glow off the symbol could truly make it look cool!

I figured you had your hands full! It's great to have you back. :)
I definitely will roughen up the edges. I have just the right rotary tool bit for the job. Warpstone light sourcing would be awesome, but I think it may be beyond my painting skill.

    Thanks for the great ideas!

Perhaps... but object source lighting is a really tough (and intimidating) technique to tackle. I guess this is a good opportunity to attempt it though... a bit easier than having a go on a model.

It's really not all that hard. Once you do it a time or two, you'll look for any excuse to do it because it looks so awesome!

Meh, it's just like dry brushing in one direction, but with everything going away from one point.

As suggested, I roughened up the edges a little. I had a bit of trouble taking a decent picture because of lighting and the small size of the piece. Hopefully you guys can still make it out. What do you think?

I kinda liked the smooth one better... :muted:

The smooth one could have been metal; No choice but to paint it like stone now...:artist:

Painting it as if it were metal was my original intention. No going back now  As they say: in for an inch... in for a mile.

I like it. I think that it will look super-cool when all painted up. Night and day in my opinion. ;)

I preferred the smooth one as well, however I think it'd look good as a bluey-purpley crystalline structure.
