I just sold the Chaos Space Marine Daemon Prince with a newly made base, and I'm including bases with the other models as well. I'm hoping that the inclusion of the base completes the model and makes it a more attractive listing.

I would say that it does, without a base, it's hard to play with.

I figured it would be helpful for people who can't make bases themselves.

I bet they give the models some much needed weight.

Actually these are pretty light. They are made of poplar, so they aren't that dense. I'd say they don't weigh that much more than their plastic counterparts.

My father had made me a couple of brass bases (for my Nightbringer and Deceiver models), now those added some weight to the models! They really helped stabilize the models and helped prevent them from tipping over.

Yeah, I have a friend who owns and operates a auto-repair shop and has some tools that can punch out shapes from steel plates. Those are heavy and a bit overkill in my opinion, but will hold a magnet like you wouldn't believe! He puts strong magnets on the bottoms of all his pieces and cuts a steel plate to move them around on. He can turn the entire unit completely upside down and they won't fall off. I'm betting he could do the same with bases like these for when you need that additional weight to counterbalance the model.

You can also stick coins in the under side of your base to add weight but it could get very expensive depending on how many models you have :D

That works well. I did that for some of my Necrons back in the day. Now I just magnetize everything so it isn't really an issue.

Time to resurrect this old thread. I present the beginnings of a new terrain piece (as opposed to finishing the numerous terrain pieces I have half completed )... a small house.

It all starts with drawing out the plans... hurrah for drawing and math!

Thanks @Jorgik & @Crowsfoot ... hopefully I finish this one! This is a far simpler house than the other one I already have started.

Looks like you could have used some grid paper. ;)

Grid paper is definitely helpful in the drawing phase, though I don't like all the lines when I am cutting on my scroll saw.

Lol I like how planed out you are with your work. When I was doing a lot of wood craft I would just eye ball it worked well for me :cigar:...of course I did have to start over a few time ...quite a few lol

Thanks. I think it has a large part to do with the tools I have access to. I cut everything using a scroll saw, so I need patterns/designs to follow.

Sometimes I wish that I could go with the flow and eye ball my project as a I move along. It gives you a bit more freedom I suppose.

Thanks for the kind words! I hope to have more pictures up soon.

I applaud the drawing/planning it out first! I of course don't do that, but half of my projects end up in the scrap for just that reason.

    Thank you! :)

Of course, there are a few of mine that end up in the scrap heap as well.

    Cut out the primary framework.

Just a rough check to see how the pieces fit together (I will glue them together later on)...
