The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

No chance that we get a seamless transition from the classic series. I had already heard rumblings that they were going to wokify it for the "modern world".

That sounds absolutely awful.

I couldn't even bring myself to finish watching the video.

I want to burn it all to the ground. Is nothing sacred any more?

But Thor: Love and Thunder is far from a flop.
This is true. Unless it has a huge drop off week-to-week, it will likely make some sort of profit. It will be interesting to see how the second week box office numbers pan out.

To answer your question, nothing is sacred in their eyes. They will tarnish everything that is beloved and cherished in pursuit of disseminating their message. All we can do is keep fighting with our wallets and viewership. Eventually the almighty dollar will win the day.

There is a big difference between a "disappointment" and a "flop"
Agreed. I'd (roughly) define them as...

Disappointment = the movie fails to reach what was financially expected of it (e.g. Shang-Chi when compared to previous phase MCU movies)
Flop = the movie ends up losing the studio money (e.g. Solo, because Disney ended up in the red with that film)

Of course, these definitions are purely financial in nature. There are many other ways to look at it: artistically, longevity, brand damage, etc.

I don't know if this is woke or not, but this is bad and the results show.

Thor 4 underperformed causing projections to be lowered many times and they still went under the lowered bar. But more than that. It had the biggest second week drop of any Marvel movie.

Marvel's cinematic universe is dying a death of a 1000 cuts (or 12+ at least), of which wokeism is one.

1) Wokeism alienates many fans in the West. It also means a movie won't air in totalitarian regimes (I don't have a problem with the latter part).

2) There are too many Marvel projects. The original Star Wars movies were released three years apart. So were the prequels. Between the OT and the prequels there was a big event of a remastered release of the OT. It used to be a major event when Star Wars came out. It used to be a major event when a 007 movie came out.

Now there are 3 or 4 Marvel releases each year. It stops being special.

3) Marvel Studios had a clear concrete plan leading up to Civil War and a clear concrete plan leading up to Infinity War. Now they don't plan any further than the next movie.

4) Guardians of the Galaxy made it funny when a serious moment was undercut, but now Marvel studio undercuts every serious moment. (4, 5, and 6 are related)

5) The lead actor for Black Panther is dead but they are still making more in this series. Tied to above, he was one of the very few Avengers that didn't crack stupid jokes during serious moments.

6) The MCU is overloaded with bad jokes but now lacks serious character arcs.

7) Sony took the lead with Spiderman No Way Home, giving fans a taste of what they really wanted but Disney learned no lessons. This actually makes things worse going forward because we the movie going public know that better movies are possible which makes us more pissed off when we don't get them. Also, Top Gun Maverick and Minions Rise of Gru show that you cannot use the excuse of streaming or Covid for lower box office.

8) A lot of the best directors refuse to work with Disney nowadays, not so much for the wokeness but because of excessive studio meddling. Now you are stuck with Waititi who has the mind of a spoiled child tempered with the arrogance of a spoiled teenager.

9) Writers and casting directors are hamstrung by The Message which is a spin off of wokeness and a spin off of executive meddling.

10) a lot of the newer comic book characters are unpopular and poorly written but Disney wants to make movies and TV shows on these anyway.

11) Disney is hemorrhaging animators and CGI effects technicians. A lot of them are quitting Disney because of poor working conditions and the quality of CGI shows this brain drain.

12) Disney keeps dropping the ball on marketing before the movies and TV shows hit the air waves. It might help if they told their actors and actresses to shut up once in a while. They certainly shouldn't be insulting fans or biting the hands that feed them (though the latter is more of a WB problem). Related note, the credibility of the access media and critics has never been lower.

Here's a piece of good news that is not based on schadenfreude. An anti-woke artist is making lots of money.

I am certainly going to back this. I just need to figure out which comic cover I want and/or options I want.

How about a little bit of anti-woke content to brighten up the thread:

Not to mention the fact that the US women's soccer team simply negotiated a different contract than men's. They wanted a different deal (low risk, low reward... but they get paid anyway, always, even when there weren't games at all due to COVID), and when offered the same exact deal as men, they declined.
They claimed unfairness only when their choice of low risk - low reward got them less money. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Imagine to invest money and pretend to have low risk, high reward....

And imagine that after all that, a significant percentage of society (leftists) still take them seriously.

I'm honestly surprised that they've started to become ashamed of the OT, given that they've been trying to purposefully minimise Prequels merchandise in favour of the OT ever since they got their mitts on Star Wars in 2014 and have been trying to fan-service OT fans in every film they have made. All Star Wars merch from then to today (apart from action figures, which, despite dropping in quality, still included some Prequels characters, though even there Disney kept them to a minimum) featured the same old OT characters of Darth Vader (true he did appear in the last few seconds of Episode III but it doesn't count for much), Stormtroopers, Boba Fett, occasionally Luke, Leia, Han and C-3PO and R2 in their OT appearance, X-Wings and TIE Fighters, and the only thing with a particular link to the Prequels they could bear to include was CGI Yoda, and even then he would deliberately be depicted with only his walking stick and no Lightsaber, deliberately making him resemble OT Yoda. No young Obi-Wan (though to be fair old Obi-Wan didn't appear on merch either), Anakin, Padme, Clone Troopers, Battle Droids, Palpatine, Jango, Grievous or Maul, all in line with J.J. Abrams' original sinister master plan to purge people's memories of the Prequel Trilogy. To see them, then, go about this U-Turn and start messing with the 'sacred' OT seems to show that agenda has now by and large vanished, probably due to the failure of the Sequel Trilogy. One good thing, perhaps, but that agenda was nothing compared to the poisonous Left-Wing ideology that really drove the Sequel Trilogy to its doom, and that one is still very much at large.

Regarding ditching Slave Leia, it's also surprising given that, surely, Leia in a bikini would symbolise the desires of female supremacists for all women to be polygamous sluts in the flawed belief that it signifies 'sexual freedom'? Unless they censored it due to the 'slavery' element, but it's fiction for Pete's sake, it's simply there in the film to show what an odious gangster Jabba is, and nobody in the film is praising it at all. On the contrary, the climax is when Leia is able to throttle Jabba for putting her in the outfit and treating her as a slave in the first place, which surely advocates a strong female character, the thing Disney wanted to encourage ever since the Farce Awakens? These wokists are becoming more mentally-retarded and hypocritical by the second.

What makes it all the more stupid is they could at least have replaced Slave Leia with Leia in the Endor outfit she wore in Episode VI, which is the film the shirt design is representing, rather than her Hoth outfit which only featured in the previous film. Whoever created the new design obviously knows very little about Star Wars (but then this is Disney we're talking about so that isn't a surprise) and probably just Googled Leia and used the first decently-clothed picture of Carrie they could find.

If they're really embarrassed by the Original Trilogy, why have they not censored the Ewoks, the most embarrassing OT creation of all? :p

Neither of these problems with Star Wars are directly caused by wokeness, but they are caused by Kathleen Kennedy (EDIT: Also, rain is wet).

Some of this is bleeding over into the MCU and Disney's other project. Disney seems to have trouble holding on to top tier director talent. I must have watched ten videos in the last two weeks that mentions this.

Sometimes commentators try to guess why it's hard for the Mouse to hold on to good directors. Some of these same issues seem to be occurring among Disney's competitors too.

Theories are:

1) there are fewer good directors because Hollywood as a whole is creatively bankrupt.

2) Disney wants to promote unknown directors to helm big projects because these directors don't resist executive meddling.

Both theories have evidence to back them up and they are not mutually exclusive.

Or it could be because the good directors sense the House of Mouse's thralldom to woke anarchists and want to get out of there before KK and co. start trashing their work.

And now Disney comes after my beloved National Treasure...

You know the drill, just ignore any shitty remake it produces. Hopefully it'll crash and burn as another reminder that if you go woke, you go broke ;)

You probably have the DVD or Blu-Ray of the original you can enjoy anyway, so what's there to worry about?

Unless you have ditched all your DVDs/Blu-Rays in favour of the evil that is streaming services, in which case that's a lesson learned.
