This is a little long, but most of these guys actually saw Little Mermaid, but I can summarize the key points.

When you give movies a woke makeover, it's not just window dressing it changes core meaning.

    This core scene.

You can tell Triton was pained that he had to do this and that he did not want to hurt his daughter.

In the live action movie, he basically destroyed her collection because was an abusive father.

The ending is also subverted. Originally Eric impaled Ursula with the prow of his ship but in the movie, Arial of course did that.

Never mind that Arial didn't know how sailing ships work, this changes a core aspect of the original movie's plot arc. King Triton saw that humans can be brave and good and that Eric worthy of his daughter's love, so he gave her his blessing.

In the live action movie, he was just capsulating to the Girl Boss by giving his blessing for her to live as a human.

This is important enough to increase my font size. A replacement for Rotten Tomatoes.

A potentially useful tool, but not a replacement. I see a couple of issues with it:

As of yet, if the Critical Drinker recommends something I haven't been disappointed by it.

The best part is, if Across the Spiderverse buries the live action Little Mermaid remake, Disney's apologists won't be able to blame racism for the disparity since Miles Morales is a mixed raced protagonist with more diverse sidekicks. Well, they can and probably will try to blame racism but they will look more ridiculous than usual.

I wasn't a fan of the first one. The art style was too strange for my liking.

I found the art style refreshing and captivating. It felt like a living comic book to me.

I don't begrudge you for not being a fan of it, you are just the very first person I've seen who claimed to have watched the movie and not liked the visual style which is a little odd to me.

Even people I've read reviews of who didn't like the movie for whatever reason still complemented the animation.

As a connoisseur of such greats as Samurai Jack, Avatar The Last Airbender and Castlevania, the Spider-verse animation was simply subpar. It's too strange and ultimately distracts from the story telling experience.

Let me summarize a 40 minute video.

Disney has roughly $200 million of liquid operating capital. Considering how many billions of dollars Disney is worth. This is dangerously low. This is a fact.

Disney either needs to obtain a large loan or sell off some of their assets to just keep the lights on. This is a logical deduction.

It said that Disney is looking to sell Lucas Film and has an interested Buyer (with a big B). This is a rumor.

Assuming the rumor is true, George Lucas is the most likely interested Buyer.

    To play Devil's Advocate.
-Disney can sell other things apart from Lucas Film.
-It's not clear even George Lucas can save his company.
-Disney can attain a loan. This is Scalenex's prediction for most likely outcome.

A lot of companies have been shooting themselves in the foot by diving into Wokeness alienating their customers. There is a theory that they are doing this to largely so that they can please Blackrock and other financial institutions to keep their line of credit open by keeping their ESG score high.

If Blackrock is not willing to extend Disney a line of credit, this will demonstrate that there is ZERO benefit to cowing to their ESG demands. I believe they will extend Disney a line of operating credit just to save face and save their agenda.

As much of a nugget of hope this is, I don't see what George could do to bring his magnum opus back from the dead:
    • The easiest way to bring back fan trust would be to remake the Sequel Trilogy and retcon the Disney ones as an alternative timeline, but that's not possible now that Carrie Fisher is dead, Harrison Ford really isn't interested in Star Wars anymore and people are adverse to seeing other actors portray or deepfake the OT characters.
    • The time between Episodes III and IV has been done to death now with varying levels of success. George could retcon the lot, but does anyone really want to see alternatives for everything we have so far? I personally would only want to see an alternative Obi-Wan film that focuses on the leadup to his final battle to Darth Maul, and definitely don't want to see the Rogue One team replaced by that dork Kyle Katarn.
    • George could make some content set between Episodes VI and VII, but we already have the Mandalorian, which a lot of people originally liked and wouldn't want to see retconned, for that.
    • The only thing I could see happening would be a KOTOR trilogy that would satisfy a lot of people who have bleated about one over the years, but if it follows the game, I doubt I will be interested in seeing it given how bad a lot of the characters look (haven't played KOTOR but have played Galaxy of Heroes, where the Devs were eager to shove the KOTOR characters in and make them OP, so I've had a taster of who the main personalities are, and I'm not impressed with Revan, Bastila, Jolee, Mission or Zaalbar).

Just in case Nightbringer tries to post this before me. Nothing new I suppose, but it presents arguments for what makes good characters in a more succinct and entertaining format. I don't expect Hollywood to course correct on this for a while.

They might take the wrong course correction and just stop using female characters as opposed to making good female characters.

I'm just happy the first movie gave Miles more personality and made him actually interesting. I didn't like the comic as he felt, pun intended, two dimensional. My favorite character was his father that they also made a better character and I loved watching him be a Dad.

By those who watched it, Andor seems to be the highest quality Star Wars produced in the Disney era of Star Wars, but it underperformed/flopped because it was released after most fans have given up on Disney Star Wars and/or they have given up on Disney+.

This might be repeating with Elemental. It sounds like the movie is surprisingly good, but the last several animated movies released by Pixar/Disney have been subpar so people are not trusting this movie and/or some people have been angered to the point where they refuse to give Disney any money.

I'm probably going to watch it as I am a fan of movies in general. Not right away. I understand that the week of a movie's release, the movie studio usually gets about 80% of the price of a ticket while the rest goes to the theater, then the second week, they get about 70% and so on and so forth. This is why movie theaters need to sell overpriced concessions to make a profit and this is why I have previously rationalized buying said concessions rather than sneak in my own snacks.

Nowadays, I am trying to cut back and sugar and salt intake, so I suppose if I wait longer to see a film, the theater will make more money.

I'll probably watch Into the Spiderverse next week or the week thereafter. Then watch Elemental the week after that.

That's the problem with the current brand environment, we've known what we were getting for so long people have jumped ship. I haven't watched any Star Wars for years as I haven't liked anybody it. I was told Andor was good but I don't have the interest.
