Maybe it'd work to his advantage with regards to cannons, though. Lol!

There's another big model that is turned sideways like that....I can't remember which one. The Aracnarock maybe? (I have mine turned toward the small side.) Perhaps it's just optional with certain models?

That's the problem though. If the orientation results in an advantage, then your opponent has a right to refuse the from being used. In this case, it might be both and advantage (for the reason you stated) and a disadvantage (more troops in base contact being able to strike back at you).

GW depicted the current Treeman model with both alignments, it was strange.

Hmm. I will have to see how restrictive it is. Like I don't want to pay 150 dollars to get the 3 things I want and then 6 other things I only sort of want. If it is module and you have some choice I will definitely consider it. I WANT THOSE SKINKS. View attachment 45056

I agree, I will see if I can do more research when they open the next crowdfunding batch on the 1st.

Honestly, I can't tell. Normally, I'd say that they're just the 3D computer drawings, but the fact that they added their reflection on some of the pics is really making me question it. I think that they look just a little too perfect to be real models. The bases are the biggest giveaway for me.

Definitely look 3D to me, they aren't being photographed on some sort of light box or anything. I really want to see the actual models!

Holy mother of carnosaur xD i was just checking their facebook and saw this baby xD seems like they are going literaly "BIG" xD

Check it out!

I'd like to see the models as well. The 3D renderings are great, but we're not talking about GW hard plastic here. Quality is always a concern.

I think the reason they did it that way its because in aos models have 360 Vision so in theory it doesnt really matter how they are facing on the base i guess

But it was supposed to be an 8th edition model and was released long before AoS came out.

I think they did that to make more of a distinction between the regular Treeman version (facing the short side) and the Treeman Ancient version (facing the long side). That's what I went with too.

I especially like the "Spear" version! Nice pose.
Also it looks a lot like birch wood, nice one. :)

I love the spear verison too. Looks awesome! Great stuff!

Any thoughts to adding some more depth to the piece of wood on the base and maybe some highlights too? It's just the base but I thought it looked out of place next to all your other great work.

+1 to all of the above; all three treeman are great but the charging bronzed spear guy is really dynamic.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, those are my Birch Brothers. They actually both have spears.

Here's a better pic of the first:

The idea was to have him appear to be twirling his spear around as though he were in the middle of a fight.

I did those two years ago, right after the models first came out. I've improved a lot since those days, and I need to go back and re-work the bases. My initial concept for those two were to act as bodyguardians for an Ancient Treeman. I've since gotten a Treewoman from Creature Caster, but I haven't done anything with her yet. Once I do, she'll be my main Ancient Treewoman.

I finished painting this Chaos Sorcerer for a friend of mine as part of a trade.

Lol, thanks!

Chaos isn't really my thing, but he wanted me to paint these for him, so I thought I'd give it a crack.
