at least tau are quickly falling back in tournaments.
The weapon is still stupid as concept, but the impact on the game was minimal (comparing it with old atrocities as the triptide lists)

    Some tzeentch stuff.

Being able to teleport a hero out of the battlefield is fairly funny. And possibly one of the more balanced approaches to a rule like this, as the opponent can completly avoid it by simply never attacking with a minor hero. Though I do have to say that with 2D6 it also means that stuff like a stegadon can be teleported away, which is maybe a bit much. Should probably have been limited to smaller heroes.

The ability to summon an endless spell for free is interesting I guess, maybe GW hasn't quite given up on endless spells.

And our slann yet again get to look a bit silly as they need to activly switch spells, while figures like Nagash, Teclis & now LoC just know the entire lore.
I guess we'll get that eventually as well.

Usually when an edition is coming to an end GW just goes "*$&@ It" and makes incredibly broken and overpowerd things to push sales and bring people back in before new rules editions. Maybe recent decisions are a sign of this?

I mean, aren't we at the start of a new edition right now? Or did 3th edition already finish somehow?

I thought we were talking about 40k and their craziness? I mean i wouldnt be surprised to see a 4th edition after 2-3 years, GW seems to be updating rules editions much more quickly.

Originally AoS, they just lifted a rule from 40K.

Honestly, it feels far too quick for a board game. Those normally move at a much more glacial pace.

Personally, i find 40k 9th ed to be more balanced than AoS.

If the slann lore had more than 1 spell worth casting, I'd be happy for them to know the whole lore :p

Tau got multiple nerfs, and then Armor of Contempt and other rules buffed other armies. GW certainly isn't balancing 40k well, but I feel like they respond to armies being OP by quickly nerfing them or adding other rules meant to counter them. Meanwhile, AoS armies are usually left with OP abilities until the GHB release, which may or may not do anything about units that people are complaining about the most.

I mean, really it's just a double insult. A bad lore & they don't even get the whole lore :p

A new gargant naturally with stats that guarantee he hits over half his attacks, cuz regularly missing is apparently not something that's allowed in AoS.

Also, his special rule seems rather annoying. Having your fancy monsters get one-shot isn't exactly fun...

To be honest thats part of why I love my Sons. Going from Seraphon that hit on 4+ /3+ to Sons that can be buffed to 2+/2+ is amazingly fun. Its like "look at all the damage I do now that I can actually hit!"

Pretty disappointed they repacked the gargant kit instead of a new pose/body though. Feels like a Very Lazy cash grab by GW

I would also say that the monster could make its save (unless it can be bypassed or the rend is really huge)

The rend is '*' in the article. I have a feeling it might start at -4 or even -5 and deteriorate on each bracket.

Oh, i don't doubt it will be something on that magnitude. Hope no greater than -4.
At least, something that starts at save 2+ (let's say a VLoZD with shield) and uses all out defense will have a 5+ chance

O sure, it's fun for the SoB in this case.
But all the 3+/2+ stuff doesn't seem particularly healthy for the overal game.

yeah, it's definitly not going to be low rend if it has a *...

I mean, that's pretty terrible odds for getting your VLoZD to survive. And that's the best case scenario. Monsters with anything less than top tier defenses are basicly guaranteed to be murdered.

That's for sure. But it's a gamble on a single roll that hits at 3+. And pretty sure the monster is gonna roar to avoid All out attack.
It's nothing, or too much... the sign of a horrible (and unbalanced) game mechanic.

We joke a lot, but I think its important to remember that its only this particular army and was a conscious decision made to internally balance the faction. unlike 40k knights, Sons do not have a million shots and a million melee attacks. They are melee focused with a sprinkling of ranged. In order to give the faction a chance in the current game, they have great stats so that they can maximize the damage on the limited number of attacks available to them.

Not really, a good chunk of the newer stuff has 3+/3+ attacks . For example for the Lumineht I think basicly every unit has acces to 3+/3+ attacks (or better), except for the sentinels and wardens.

And anyways, imho "needing" amazing stats on your entire faction just indicates that a faction like SoB is inherently just kinda badly designed. Especially if you end up with something as absurd as a basic ability that gives this one 1/3+/2+/*/5D6 without any need for external buffs or anything remotely clever.
