Blog Suds Painting & Kitbashes of 2020

Testing an alternative scheme for my cav archers, 1 of these for every 5 dawnriders is the plan

Switching the red, orange and russ grey positions a bit

May still add a second pauldron to the archer....

If you have been spit balling this out I wouldn't serve it to someone else but yourself ;)

Back to the models: I like how you did the conversion. It looks clean and believeable. I am not sure about the change of colorpattern in one unit. But maybe it will work out great.

Keep up the good work

Grrr, Imrahil

Haha, definitely for myself and the lady!

Thank you! It looks better painted for sure lol really happy with it

And yeah, we will see, if not its not a *horrible* fix, its also to be used as a AoA character, but yeah... we'll see lol

Its hard going from Seraphon where I paint crazy shit to... everything be the same.

But yeah, so far I dig the Warden and two cavs together as a working scheme

Also brings back the Napoleononic Era armies if where everything was a different color depending on role in the army

Small Update on my kitbashed Star Seer

I was able to prime the palanquin today with my new primer of Chaos Black. If there is one thing that is consistent in all my Seraphon models its one thing: Obsidian Weapons. I simply love obsidian, it is gorgeous and insanely sharp (though fragile), and all my Seraphon even with all the crazy color schemes have obsidian weapons.

Taking that love one step further, I wanted to create a dark blue obsidian backboard for my Star Priest. Blue obsidian Im using to represent water and its purification powers, purification being a main theme of this project.

C&C welcome :)

Recipe thus far, though in total there may be 8 steps when I'm done:

Blue Obsidian -

Primer: Chaos Black

Step 1: Dry Brush Kantor Blue, Shade Drakenhof Nightshade

Step 2: Dry Brush Thousand Sounds Blue, Shade Drakenhof Nightshade

Step 3: Dry Brush Sotek Green, Shade with Coelia Greenshade

Step 4: Dry Brush Temple Guard Blue , Dry Brush Xereus Purple, Shade Aethermatic Blue

Step 5: Dry Brush Baharroth Blue, Shade Drakenhof Nightshade + Coelia Greenshade

Step 6

Nice, what did you use to make the blue a bit neon? Or is that just the camera flash?

WIP on Lucifer

My Lumineth army as a whole is a Halloween/Volcanic theme, and the mountain cows are no different

Sporting a molten core that super heats his armor and a volcano on his back, this Mountain Cow means blistering business!

Much more to come but a good start :)

C&C welcome!

Very nice, well thought of! Love how this already shows.

I was able to finally find, in original box, the Citadel Coatl model for Lizardmen :)

Im excited to paint it... yet so conflicted on actually taking it out of the box lol

Any thoughts on what I could use it as? Its quite smaller than I thought it'd be (for a monster) so I don't think a terradon chief will work...

Maybe Anvil of Apotheosis monster?

How big is it? Height, width and depth?

Good luck deciding on taking it out the box or not. I feel your pain ;)
He definitely is a tad small

Ha, yeah...ugh lol more than likely I'm gonna open it and paint it, I'll probably put a few of those jungle swarms under it. Likely make it an AoA creature and use it for tourneys that allow AOA characters, otherwise a very cool and rare display piece!
He definitely is a tad small
Yeah, although I'm still very excited to have the official model... it does make me sad at how small it is. Considering how small the models used to be though... it makes sense. Sucks, but makes sense.

Just makes me wanna make a kitbash using Morathi...wait what? ;)

Also...... I know this is a Lizardmen/Seraphon forum and we all wanna see those models specifically, however I have a finished Lumineth I want to share!

Im excited to finally be able to share my Avalenor (who I have Affectionately renamed Lucifer, for obvious reasons I think...also Moocifer) for my Iliatha Lumineth army! He was a lot of fun to paint and I'm happy I have a regular Spirit of the Mountain to paint later

If you've been following my progress then you know I went with a Volcanic/Halloween theme, and I think it translated beautifully onto this model! Going with said theme, I gave him super heated armor & putting dark spots to help sell that, I also went ahead and gave him a volcano as his mountain back. In the center is his Moltej Core which not only super heats his armor but is what powers the volcano on his back.

For the base I tried to do more of an aerial view look than a more on the ground feel, I wanted him to feel taller, just as I feel a spirit of a mountain should be (I think I succeeded for my first attempt at such a thing!). With a large river running between his legs and a fresh volcano formed with his footfall, Lucifer is definitely a force to be reckoned with! Is especially cool when you consider his base is the terrain that my wardens, dawnriders, etc are walking on/their bases are ;)

Without further adu, I present to you....

Lucifer, The Mountain's Rage! hope you enjoy!

Now to time to go hunt down missed spots and touch ups!

Seraphon progress will start up again in a bit, dont fret! Ive been eyeing my star seer for awhile now... might ge time to finish him soon.20200925_054431.jpg 20200925_054517.jpg 20200925_054538.jpg 20200925_054559.jpg 20200925_054622.jpg 20200925_054955.jpg 20200925_055023.jpg

I much like this picture
Thank you, that is a good picture for sure! May try to take some better ones

The base elevates the 'massive' size of the model. highlights that he really is a mountain :artist::artist:
Definitely what I wS going for, I also think its cool that the basic unit bases look like they belong to his base... like theyre marching under him
