Re: The army of Tsunami (WIP slann 2/5-2011)

Wow, great work sir, sorry I missed your last update. I love the look of the new Saurus with the crests cut back like that. Done that way I think they fit in well with the 5th edition Saurus that I love so much, so if I find myself falling short and need some new models I am going to try this myself. The paint jobs are wonderful in that grey-green. Very realistic looking.

I wish we had a photo of the salamanders before the conversion work was painted over.

As for the throne of vines - I love it too. Add some more foliage to it however... Have you considered looking at the plastic plants at pet stores for aquarium use? Lots of very jungle-looking options there, I think, and very easy to use.

What became of the Saurus weapons you didn't use? I would love to get my hands on a few, in trade perhaps...for my next Saurus champion conversion?

The "conversion work" consisted of putting a green stuff sausage on the ass of the kroot hounds, and then shaping it to look like a tail. thats it :) yo ucan see the original model here: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440289a&prodId=prod1060294

i may still do that, but i am not aiming for it all to look like a bush, but rather like a bunch of coarse vines grown in an instant to carry forth the mighty hypno toad to battle... hard to explain but i have a "vision" :D

I have them all still in my bit box ofc. sure we can trade a few if you want, but unless you live in sweden it feels like the postage will be so high that it may be easier just to find some local guy who has a spear wielding unit to swap some with :D

Re: The army of Tsunami (WIP stegadon 31/8-2011)

    Bump :D

I have been doing mostly other stuff lately (a lot of Mordheim, see my signature for info) but i got my thumb out of my ass and started on the stegadon that had been lying around in my cupboard for 2 and a half years. It is not nearly done ofc, but here is a glimpse at least :D

Wow somehow, this is the first time I have seen this thread. There is some very very cool work in here, Tsunami! Great work!

I particularly like how the throne of vines is coming along, and very good idea for the salamanders.

quick update on the stegadon. washes have been applied, so now its some highlighting, most noticably on the horns. I am going for the same yellowish bone color as you can see on my old stegadon earlier in the thread.

Nice looking stuff you got here. I especially like the paint job on the stegadon so far and the paint on the saurus and temple guard. The throne of vines idea is really cool too (although it would look much better with new slann model :-D)

Thats an awesome looking stegadon! I love the effect you have on the belly! Shame it will hardly be visible when its on a base. :(

dont worry stewart. i plan to mount the stegadon on a 5 inch long translucent plastic stick, to make it look like he is flying. (ok, i wont :D )

Re: The army of Tsunami (WIP stegadon 18/9-2011)

    Update!

i am still no further along with the Stegadon, but i did another little project today. I wanted to see if i could beef out a saurus warrior a bit, so he would look a bit more like a hero. I simply added a layer of GS to most of the body, and then added new scales, and i am pretty happy with the results. I will probably use this model as a champion or something, but now i am going to order a unit of cold ones, and beef out two of those guys to be my heroes.

I plan to use the old godzilla style COs for these guys. i have some of those, but ill have to make do with whatever i can get out of the CO box for the riders. wish me luck :p

I like your work on that. The shortened head looks good on the saurus.

Re: The army of Tsunami (WIP beefy saurus 18/9-2011)

Great work, this is a good way to teach yourself some sculpting skills too. I might beef up the weapon a bit more just to really differentiate him from the RnF.

Yep, I'm working on that too. Mounted Scar Vets sure come in handy! My first one was just cobbed together from parts in the CoC box. The next one will be far more elaborate...gotta break out the greenstuff for him...maybe he'll be an Oldblood :)
