This thread is for discussing Armies lost in the old world or Armies you feel deserve some love.

So if you want to discuss Tomb Kings or maybe you want to talk about High elves this is the place to do it.

Please try to keep Lizardmen/Seraphon/Salamanders etc etc in their correct forum.

This thread could also be moved to a dedicated section in the future.

P.s, Thanks to @pendrake for the title

Well, this ought to be fun. Out of curiosity, what do you guys play, outside of our glorious Reptilian Overlords? I have sizeable Brayherd and Warherd forces (Along with Centigors and Harpies. The basic Beastman lineup before they split us all up), as well as a fairly large Gutbuster Wartribe, so most of my forces outside of my lizards have been left by the wayside. Feels bad man.

Nurgle and Death at the moment not really gaming much purely painting.

In all seriousness, I simply to use this thread and eventual subforum to talk about tomb kings and document the eventual reawakening of my old tomb kings character, King Ahmenphakth of the first dynasty of quatar.

City of marble, city of statues, guardian of the valley.

And it's King, the lion of the valley, King of the palace of pillars, Lord of the crimson host, Sentry of usurians grand temple, he who holds Gehebs fury.

Currently rocking the Nurgles. I have a Fyreslayers army I need to paint at some point, and two Hurricanums I need to decide what to do with...

Considering a ghostly freeguild army, or a ghostly death army... or both. Counts as both?

Very cool. I'm using my models to play kings of war, but I keep an eye on AoS for news of new models

Why not do both and be able to use them separately too

Ooooooh please show them!
I am a bit sad that they seem to be so weak in AoS because I want to play some Chaos army one day and Beastmen are kinda cool IMO....

About my own armies:
- Seraphon
- Death: Skeletons, Wight Kings, Necromancers, Black Knights, Zombie Dragon and a few Spirit Hosts
- ~1500 points of Sylvaneth (actually my wife's army but she doesn't play, only paint. I haven't posted anything about them here since people seem to hate them.)
- Thinking of doing at least one small force of the Destruction Grand Alliance and one of Chaos. Not sure which one.
- Also thinking about starting a Tau force (or mayyyybe Tyranids and - way less likely - Salamander Space Marines) for 40K

I played against some... beast things of some variety... Forgeworld models. They messed my day up.

I don't hate sylvaneth, but I think thier background is contrived

Reading the Battletome I was actually pretty surprised how well parts of their lore was done.
What I really dislike is their grimdark units (Spite Revenants and Drycha and to a lesser degree Tree-Revenants). Those are not only ugly but way over the top in their evilness IMO.
Fun fact: I don't mind Alarielle herself, for me (who doesn't know her past self) she has a bit of a Kerrigan (StarCraft) vibe going. And I also like the D&D-Druid style "nature can be cruel and so are we" so in the end they are more of a "force of nature/life" than "good" so they have some chaotic streaks which contrasts some of the other armies in the "Order" Grand Alliance.

Playstyle-wise I am looking forward to trying them on the battlefield, at least they sound like they play kinda unique and could be fun.

When I get a chance to play, I tend to rotate between Seraphon and Free Peoples supplemented by Ironweld Arsenal and a couple other Order models for support. I also play Tyranids in 40k. I have a couple other armies I want to experiment with, but really don't have time.

We do not serve...

We rule.

So, first things first:

Current plan:

Tomb kings are on order, should have a box in the mail soon. Friend is going to play against me with elves of the highest variety.

1 horde revenants (aka tomb guard)

A king

And some heralds.

I plan to expand with ushabti and other constructs next. Maybe a couple of SSC. They are marginally more useful then flinging my army list, but they look cool.

For basic levy skellies, I have a few options. I have some models already that I'm going to dig out of storage.

I'm also going to purchase metals from various sources.

My main bulk however, for this rebirth at least, will most likely be triumph of Death skellies with TK shields.

In the meantime, I have more trident realms and salamanders to paint.

Will see if I can dig them out of storage later, though I've stopped playing them much lately so I'm rather unsure as to where I'm keeping them. As things stand, yes, Beastmen are rather subpar as a force. Can tell that GW is pushing pretty hard to turn us into an auxiliary force for other Chaos armies. We used to be in a pretty decent spot, with our legacy characters and new allegiances on the way, but then the legacy nerf happened, which hit us exceedingly hard, and we lost a bunch of our best models, like Gorthor (Going to miss that bubble of +1 to hit and charge), Khazrak, our standard bearer (Going to miss that bubble of +1 to wound to), and some of our fun models, like Morghur. As of now, I can't in good conscience suggest to anyone that they start a Beastman force. On the plus side though, Bray Shamans are considered Chaos Sorcerers now, so they can summon demons, which helps out a bit with our versatility I guess. To little to late though tbh.

An excellent idea! Certainly there are Bretonnian (@Warden) and TK (@NIGHTBRINGER, @Killer Angel) players around here, who would all use such a part of the forum well, as well as potential new recruits such as myself. This means Lustria could be a little hideout for the armies 'unloved' by Games Workshop. All would be welcome!

:joyful:
I think a subforum for "other tabletop armies" in the "General Hobby" forum would do the job (and also declutter that section a bit).
It would also be a place to ask questions (like I do sometimes) about other armies we play. Becasue honestly: I'd rather ask my question about my Death army here than on TGA.
As long as it is clear that the focus of this forum stays Lizardmen/Seraphon/Lustria/other Lizards I think everyone should be fine with it.
Bretonnia (Roundtable-Bretonnia.com) is actually doing OK. Old Members pop in once in awhile and there is a slow steady trickle of new posts. It is not just Warden.

Glad to know there is enough interest in the "lost" armies to have garnered this much attention. It is definately not just me over at the Round Table, I am but a painting novice when it comes to the legendary Bretonnian painters that have graced those pages (though photobucket dropped numerous photos, there are still plenty in the site gallery :snaphappy:).

That being said, Lustria is the home for both my main Warhammer armies.
  • Lizardmen were always my first army, as I always loved their look, the dinosaurs, and their Mayan/Aztec/Mesoamerican influences.
  • My Bretonnians are a close second, mostly because they are waaay more difficult for me to paint, but since I love heraldry it has been more of a labor of love :couchpotato:.
Aside from these, I have always dreamed of creating a pirate dwarf army, but that particular warhammer project is a long way off.

What about pirate lizardmen? See mantic salamanders army list
