The Shrine to Lost Armies

Speaking of the bad-looking "revanant?" models in the current sylvaneth line, here are some really cool conversions done by Melcavuk over on the Order Alliance Community.

"in the beginning there was accord between the gods in Sigmar realm and that accord was thus "All that is living must one day die, and yet without life there can be no Death" and by this accord Alarielle and Nagash were thus bound. All things, even her Sylvaneth must abide by the cycle of Life and Death, to this date there are still some of her fallen Ancients in the service to the god of Death."

His converted (forgeworld?) horned rat is particularly disturbing and creepy on page 3...

The beetle is still WIP (missing the rider I think) but man it looks awesome! Kudos to Lord Melcavuk! :vulcan:

A little more musing on my tomb kings project:

1. I'm stupid, I already have 2 projects on the go.

2. I already have a display board idea in my head, which was catapulted along by:

3. I'm going to use marble vynil on top of mdf to be a basing material, supplemented by fallen columns, monuments, etc

The other projects must be put on hold... more Tomb Kings!

Catapulted as in Screaming Skull Catapulted... or skullapulted if you will? ;)

Sounds intriguing. Looking forward to seeing this one take shape.

I'm currently working simultaneously on my Hierotitan conversion and a Tomb Kings terrain piece.

Rule of cool (the NIGHTBRINGER version):

  1. Warriors of Chaos, Lizardmen & Tomb Kings (these 3 constantly swap positions among themselves)
  2. Dark Elves
  3. Chaos Dwarfs
  4. Wood Elves
  5. Ogre Kingdoms
  6. Dwarfs
  7. Skaven
  8. Orcs & Goblins
  9. Vampire Counts
  10. Bretonnia
  11. High Elves
  12. Empire
  13. Beastmen
  14. Daemons of Chaos

No no NO! Bretonnia and High Elves are way better than Vampire Counts!

That really depends.

VC cool

Call me oldfashioned but I really like the regular Skeletons, Black Knights and the Wight Kings and so on. Classic Undead aesthetic.
Also the Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon and Blood Knights.

So yeah talking in old terms you could say I like Vampire Counts, at least the newer models. The resin ones are....nope. Except Krell who is cool.

To be honest I am not a fan of any of those armies. However Vampire Counts do have a few cool and varied units. The Bretonnia line feels too limited for me (probably because they are the longest running army without an update), there is not enough variation. High Elves feel too squeaky clean. Very much an arrogant goody-two-shoes version of Elves. I have never liked them.

IMO they overdo the steampunk a bit.
A bit?!?
:cyclops:
That needs a rephrase. They are so far beyond steampunk...

Would an army blog for tomb kings be better in this subforum or the army blogs one?
There are already a :bookworm: handful of blog threads devoted to non-lizard Armies in the Army Blogs Forum. I am thinking one more is no problem

In the painting and army blog forum. There is no restriction on what army or even game type you can post there.

As long as it is a miniature, and you paint, convert etc. it can be posted there :)

Agreed! I like the painting section for this reason.

As much as the focus is (of course) our scale covered brethren, it also allows other projects (warhammer or otherwise) to be showcased too. Like Bretonnians! :D

Inspiration for tomb kings players.credit to the artists.

Also, my tomb king blog will hopefully be posted tonight
