A nice Ent model, but a Forge World Resin release again.

GW are fast seeing FW resin as their replacement for Finecast... not much better and vastly more expensive :shifty:

That feels contrary to what I've heard elsewhere - nearly everywhere else I've seen opinions more along the lines of "more expensive, but with quality to match". Albeit that's a generalisation, there have been some stating that the price of Forgeworld is an instant turnoff regardless of quality.

But you feel like the first opinion I've seen stating Forgeworld resin as bad quality.

Funnily enough I've heard about some Forge World kits still being poor quality with parts not being formed properly... @NIGHTBRINGER old chap, would you be willing to tell @J.Logan of the Tragedy of the Forge World Magma Cannon?

Moreover, even if such stories did not exist, I still wouldn't pay the BS prices Forge World models charge for quality when I can get hard plastic kits that are significantly cheaper (or in the case of GW ones, just cheaper ;)).

    Fair.

I only have two kidneys, I couldn't buy many Forge World models even if I wanted to. I'll be happy with just my Gabriel Angelos model :p

This is true. The fit & finish of FW models is far below GW plastics. They require a much larger amount of prep work before the painting process can begin. Large gaps must be filled, warping must be heated + reshaped and models must be cleaned of the mold release agent prior to priming. On top of that, we've got other limitations of resin in that it is toxic when being filed/sanded and you can't utilize plastic glue in assembly.

On the plus side, Forge World represents some of the nicest sculpts that GW has produced, but you've got to invest more work in them before they can be placed on the battlefield. Once upon a time it was not possible for GW to match the sculpt quality of FW resin with plastic or metal. However, with today's technology, anything can be cast in plastic.

And with resin 3d printers, what IS made in resin should be looking good with minimal work required? :p

That makes me wonder why Forge World hasn't switched to a 3d printer farm for their goods, but I can admit the logistics of such are beyond my ken. The only logistical reason I can come up with is that swapping out the injection mould whatevers costs more than starting from nothing, as that's old machinery that needs to be disposed off.

I have literally zero experience working with 3d printers, so I can't speak on that.

i don't think it's superior to GW "standard", actual models. On the contrary, it seems to me kinda bland. Not bad but nothing to lose your mind

Not to mention that named characters like that are the kind of model you only ever get one of unless it comes with missing parts (BTW if this does happen to you, let GW know with proof - they'll ship out a whole new kit for you free of charge), gets damaged beyond repair, or goes missing.
