Little more work on the bannermen, enjoying working on these guys so far.

Yeah these are basically the same pictures as the last post, but these five guys are finished up now, just gotta add the flock to the bases:

    warden20201116_samurai daimyo WIP 7.jpg

Painting up the Shimazu lord was actually pretty fun.

And here the two Ukita bannermen are along with the daimyo I painted up ages ago:

    warden20201116_samurai daimyo WIP 6.jpg

I am debating whether or not to add a matte varnish to some of these minis. Not to the base (its supposed to look muddy) but to the models themselves to help cut down on the shininess. Will debate this tonight and see what I decide later.

Fukushima Masanori is all painted up:

    warden20201117_samurai daimyo WIP 8.jpg

Had fun with his banners too:

    fukushima mansanori armor.jpg

    fukushima masanori.jpg

The six more samurai are also done.

    warden20201117_samurai WIP 1.jpg

They look good ranked up as well. I think the differing uniforms give them a diverse appearance, and it works great with the banners to tie each block together.

More progress on the daimyo, went ahead and added a bit more highlights to Fukushima as well as my older Ishida model, who was looking a bit flat next to the new guy:

    warden20201124_daimyo progress.jpg

And i have the next batch of samurai, horsemen, and the ashigaru on my desk. Going to try and get some major work done today.

Plans for the rest of the samurai:

    warden20201124_plan.jpg

And I recently purchased (my first successful ebay bid!) a set of the old Test of Honour Daimyo's Retinue set. The new metal mini is going to wind up being Shimazu Toyohisa, hoping to paint him like this:

Did a 12-hr-ish paint session on Friday which resulted in 16 painted Fukushima Ashigaru as well as eight new samurai infantry:

    warden20201127_fukushima ashigaru.jpg

Samurai from the Matsudaira and the Kanamori clans:

    warden20201127_samurai.jpg

Major work was done on the samurai cavalry as well, but I have only finished a few of them since the beginning of the weekend, starting with two from the Honda clan:

    warden20201128_samurai cav honda clan.jpg
Finish two more Terrazawa clan samurai today as well:

    warden20201129_samurai cav terrazawa clan.jpg

    Lots more to do!

Last samurai painted for the month of November, got two more cavalry:

    warden20201130_samurai cav tokugawa 1.jpg

    Both from the Tokugawa clan:

    warden20201130_samurai cav tokugawa 2.jpg

All still in need of a good matte varnish.

Also have four more foot samurai from the Terrazawa clan:

    warden20201130_samurai terrazawa clan 1.jpg
    warden20201130_samurai terrazawa clan 2.jpg

These last couple bring me up to 61 models painted for the month of November, total of 279 for the year. Hoping to hit an even 300 before the end of December! (will compliment a post count of 5300 nicely :D)

That's an impressive production line you have going, especially considering the fact that they are pretty awesome looking as well!

The painting is slow, but I assembled these two dapper gentlemen the other day, both en route to a head-presenting ceremony at the end of a Sengoku battlefield! :D

Actually is 289 now, finished ten more arquebusiers from the Fukushima clan:

    warden20201207_fukushima arquebus 1.jpg

It is true :D, granted its more of a "quantity is a quality all its own" approach, but I have finished a ton of samurai/ashigaru this year, here is a bunch of them:

    warden20201207_fukushima arquebus 2.jpg

Basically everything since the bottom of page 20 of this thread is what I have painted this year. My goal is to take one BIG picture at the end of the year of what progress I have made painting through my backlog :D

No, the minis still look good, @Warden. I'm just impressed (and a bit ashamed) because I bought my lizards 2 years ago and haven't painted one of them.

    So Bravo!

Don't feel bad... considering I started this year with about 400-500 models in my "to paint" pile and wasn't able to paint anything much for the year of 2019, I am just trying to get through my backlog. Most of that stuff was purchased over two years ago, so considering the present "stay at home" guidance it has been great for me to slay the gray (and catch up on Assassin's Creed Black Flag!)

More progress and updates from the painting table, I have a ton of stuff on deck that I am trying to push through to include some samurai cannon crews:

    warden20201208_on the desk 1.jpg

    warden20201208_on the desk 2.jpg

Can I finish it before the end of the year? Did I bite off more than I can chew? IS THERE AIR?? YOU DON'T KNOW!?!!

Anyway, I have finished four more samurai cavalry:

    warden20201208_samurai cav 2.jpg

Not very happy with the dudes war-fan. I just kinda painted it, without looking at any reference pictures. It turned out looking like the center of the Portuguese flag by mistake. May repaint it later.

And in a random side-project, I picked these four up for an early Christmas present to myself, they were just so cute :joyful:

Those cannons look very European to me, or was there only one type of cannon? (why change an optimal design)
Good luck getting them done. You can do it ;)

I like the extreme highlights with white, this make their armors really pop.

Wow, those look awesome. Where are those from? Do they have tails?
    Four?

As I may have mentioned, I love oriental styles and particularly enamoured with Samurai (bushido, katanas, etc.) so loving your work here.

Which game features the Platy-pals? They look great! :)

Yes they do have tails!!! :D:D

    warden20201208_on the desk 5.jpg

They were a 3D print purchase off of etsy, random fantasy miniature find for D&D. They are a little taller than I would have preferred (closer to 32mm scale than 28mm) so the bodyguards are ogre-sized, but they are so cute!
