Okay, pile of conversion parts arrived... um... does anyone have the instructions for how to fit the old GW metal Vindicator conversion parts to the post-Rogue-Trader-era Rhino? I have the Rhino, and the conversion kit (both from ebay at different times), but I don't know which parts from the Vindicator kit go where... :(

Over the weekend I have applied basing material to about 35 Mordor Orcs which I plan to paint up before the end of the year.

Made a start with these ten today

    Grrr, !mrahil

    As mentioned yesterday, Vindicator:
    20221122_215043.jpg

This was interesting. I picked up the old 3rd edition Rhino from ebay for about $10. It had sandpaper-coated cardboard stuck on the top, and bases glued to cover the hatches in the sides... but when I took those off and started putting the metal Vindicator parts on, I discovered that this Rhino had, in fact, once been a Vindicator before!

Those two green pieces on the desktop? Those were glued to the front of the tank (where the gun-mount is now), but they're damaged, metal side-armor Vindicator panels. That blue panel on the desktop? That is the rear hatch, but it turns out the Rhino already HAD one of those metal rear hatches on it! So I just left that one on, and I'll keep the blue one as a spare. Most of the plating and parts went on easily. A little too easily. When I put the side-armor panels onto the Rhino, there were glue-grooves on the hull that fit the panels PERFECTLY, which implies that such panels had once been glued to this tank before! I'm not so much converting a Rhino into a Vindicator, so much as I was restoring someone's Rhino botch-job into a Vindicator once again!

Now I just need to see if I have a spare Leman Russ dozer blade in my bitz bins so I can convert it into a siege-dozer for this tank. Well, and find a hatch-ring for the hatch on top (the space marine commander isn't mounted in, as the mounting piece between him and the tank is missing).

Spent the last couple days working on the skeletons from the new Underworlds set. After I finish them, I'll work on the Darkoath.

I've ordered a pretty messed up Vindicator myself, recently! Good to see that, if everything fails, it can still be converted into a Rhino. Good luck with yours! :D

Rough idea to get used out of the mantic ogres in the starter kit.

Basically this is a riff off of the undead from Japanese mythology where they would have a scroll or something nailed to their face.

The idea here being that the local pharaoh, suffering a series of losses to the enslaved guardians that he controls, takes revenge on the odors who smash them by turning their corpses into servant fulfilling the same function.

Started on a display base for my Khorne Blood Bowl team. On looking at this photo I realised it needed MORE SKULLS.
It now has a lot MORE SKULLS than depicted here. 20221121_150229.jpg

Ooh I really like this idea, especially if shields with faces on them are used like the ones you've chosen. They remind me of the Ossiarch-done-right that are Conquest's Spires:

Those new Mantic Ogres certainly look the right sort of chunky for Monstrous Infantry. I wonder if one could make some Kroxigors out of them using spare Cold One heads and either Cold One tails or new tails sculpted onto their backsides? Plus some additional scale textures over the flesh parts?

The head join is similar to the dished shape from the ard Boyz / black orcs / old whfb orcs.

I've finished building 3 and primed them. I'm going to paint them over the weekend.

They are decently chunky, but they are expensive.

So I had to go sort out a videogame preorder I had because delivery companies don't like delivering to where I am and sent it back :rage:
Got it sorted in the end, very helpful as always.

But I did pick up a few little bargains, well not big bargains but cheaper than other places I look at usually. Plus I get the bonus points from membership.

I've started my very first kitbash. Who thought that a T34 modell an some leftover parts from a vindicator kit could create a rapier carrier?! photo_2022-11-26_00-06-03.jpg

Impressive indeed! Buying a correctly-scaled historical model to use as a tank conversion is a very good way of saving some pounds.

What scale was the T-34 out of interest?

Acting as a bed for my sick daughter, watching football and looking at various colour schemes for models.
When mama gets home, I'm gonna have a look at some sarus knights that have been sitting untouched for a week now. :p

Based on the size of the space marine model, I'd wager that it's from the 1:100-scale Team Yankee kit that lets you build 5 of them for Flames of War.
