What are you doing today hobbywise?

Today I'm going to spend all afternoon at the game shop, where I'll paint three Skink Handlers and, if anyone else is available, play a 500 point AoS game. I'm also planning to order a Baleful Whirlwind, pick up some paints, and consult with the manager on how to achieve some effects I want in my next round of painting (gross warts on my Blot Toad and acidy frightfulness being spat by my Troglodon).

May I suggest taking photos of any such battle and reporting on it for posterity in the appropriate battle report subforum?

Build-a-palooza is part of the clean up, as I am getting rid of sprues and boxes to condense everything.

She thought the stacking boxes were a good idea
 
I'm hoping to finish my last warhound. I'm currently downloading PS4 Skyrim Special Edition... that will be the death of my painting streak. I have to get it done before the download finishes.

Enough talk... time to get started.
 
Finished the 5th hound (pictures to follow on my paint blog soon). That's officially a whole unit :D.

It's kind of depressing that all that invested time only produced 30 points worth of painted models. I play 3000 point games, so that is a whooping 1% of my army. :(

Oh well... at least I achieved that small feat... and now the lure of video games beckon me!

In this long debate whether to do some weapon swap on the Rotten Vale themed Seraphon... Depends if I want to spend time pinning hmmm
 
Today I'm going to finish painting the three Skink Handlers I started yesterday at the shop, paint my Blot Toad, and work up the paint scheme and possibly begin painting my Skink Starseer. I'm also idly considering working up an entry for the April-May Short Story contest.
 
Built ten more salamanders. This time I went with great weapons. Will make two more for 12 total in a moment The GW option isn't the best in kings of war, but I figured two troops was enough to

A) scratch the painting itch on trying s different weapon load out.

B) test great weapons against my local meta

Got my Skink Handlers painted and while I may go on to do my Blot Toad I might be about hobbied out for the day. I have seven models to paint before a game next week (Troglodon, Three Ripperdactyls, Blot Toad, Skink Starseer, Skink Starpriest) and except for the Toad they all look really challenging. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to take one to completion every day, especially the Behemoth. But my game needs to be played any time from next Friday to next Thursday (though the shop is closed Mondays and Tuesdays), so I do have a little extra time.
 
Up to 50 lizardmen built/prepped in build-apalooza 1 so far.taking a break for dinner then back into it.
 
Going to be sitting down and doing some list writing, first up is a 1000 Verminus list. Hmmmm not sure on what to write up next

Update: Just had a look, might have to go classic army list making. Verminus has like just the Clanrats and Stormvermin with a Verminlord or Warlord as a hero choice

Today I'm going to have a go at painting my Skink Starpriest. When I originally built and primed this model, lo these many moons ago, I had big ambitions for its paint scheme, but now time is tight and my skills still haven't developed to where they need to be for what I originally had in mind. I still plan to make the model look as good as I can. It's an interesting dilemma. If I want to use these models as game pieces--and I do--then I have to acknowledge that they'll mostly be being viewed from a few feet away and there will most likely always be time constraints at play. If I want them to be showcase pieces to display on a shelf or on the internet via my dodgy photography skills, then I need to practice a lot more on less complicated models and get as good as I can before tackling things like the Skink Starseer I need to paint this week, too.
