Looks like I'll need to buy more skinks and up my numbers, 120 skinks in my list sounds pretty good

I don't understand: do you man you'd actually like to have maybe an additional ability for horde units, apart from this points discount?
'Cause to me this already sounds as a big thing (those points can be used for something like Skinks Handlers, Gryph-hounds, Warscroll Battalions, etc...)
Usually yes, they give some interesting variations to the game and tend to test the players' tactical thinking by forcing them to discover the right way to secure an objective, defend a particular zone of the battlefield, etc, instead of simply making them try to kill the most enemy troops and loose the least amount possible.
You will need a really large table to play all those guys!
And I hope you have some movement trays

I'm especially interested in the rule of one according to spells... always found it kind of weird, that a spell everybody knows can only be used by a single individual... Maybe limit the targets for mystic shield or just don't let it stack...

    I want two things;

    1. Hordes to actually be viable, currently they're too expensive (this discount might fix that) and currently they're also just not that good. They're easy to destroy because they're suspectible to battleshock & generally aren't the best troops to begin with. They're large and unwieldy. And they generall need (a lot of) help from other units to actually function (e.g. a skink horde really needs a skink chief to be impressive)
    2. I'd like for horde units to work in "small" sizes as well. Currently most horde units are only usefull as fodder if they're not fielded at max-strength. Now having a unit of sacrificial fodder has its uses, but they won't really fullfill any role. This is fine if you play skaven or grots, where a lot of your units are just "sacrifice". But if you don't play a faction like that it is a bit lame.

Well I hope that you will get larger hordes, but somehow you can have a huge horde count as multiple battlelines?

This further confirms my theory that GW is slowly turning AoS into fantasy battle. Every year they will release a new Generals Handbook, and each will give the game slightly more depth and advanced tactics, and before you know it, we're back too movement trays, rear and flank charces and so on.

Just a weird theory i have, nothing too serious.

Well that would be one possible solutions as it (mostly) removes the need to have the small units just to fill battleline requirements. It could also be interesting when you apply that approach to battelions. For example if the sunclaw host would then become 1 sunblood plus 1 unit of 30 saurus warriors that would be far more interesting than its current form, especally in combinations with other battalions.

Still leaves some issues, like how in low point games it means most of your points go into 1 unit. But still, it'd be an improvement.

I absolutely hope not, but we see how the trend is going :(
Firstly we got the points and Matched Play. Ok.
Now we speak about hordes. Mmh, ok...
Community continues asking for more and more "depth", meaning specific rules (for flying models, for summoning, for scenery, for cover, for shooting, for this, for that).

We will probably see in the near future faction-specific artifacts, allegiance abilities and spells...

You are right, @Captaniser , this is quite frightening.

Meh, the changes ive seen so far are fairly good. There isnt much clutter yet. But yea they should be carefull before they end up with a cluttered rulebook again...

I like the idea of the "Battle-line if" units. That could mean we get some more units we could use as battleline, imagine if we got chameleon skinks if our general had the skink keyword or something like that, ooh that'd be tasty.

I read the same somewhere in a Twitter or Facebook statement.

Also it seems we won't be able to re-roll the initiative dice anymore.

In all honesty, I have to admit to me this is the right choice.

It sounds a bit cheesy to "force" the turn sequence, so leaving it completely dependant on a D6 roll confrontation is a better solution (IMO).
Much more enjoyable for both players.

Agree. But was that really a problem? There are, like, two options that allowed that? And one of them was a Seraphon ability and we don't see Seraphon ruling tournaments...

Having played 40k for a few weeks now, rolling for turns is one of the more annoying things in AoS.

Double turns are stupid. There. I said it.
