Ghur mage is very good for melee builds. +2 to charge and run is awesome on any unit. Combine with Starseer to reach whatever you want starting from turn 1.

    -1 to-hit never hurts too.

And phoenix is great in every way. It is a very survivable debuffer, which can protect and follow our monsters.

Are you guys talking about the fire and frost phoenixes? I looked at their war scrolls on the GW website (those attached to the model product pages) and didn't notice anything about debuffs.

Pour one out for the Slayers.

But for Cities units... I'm really looking hard at the Phoenixes, their Phoenix Guard (4+ ward save!), The battlemages, and the Scourge runner Chariots. Single model units that can be the unit leader, and have a decent shot that can hurt pretty bad? And they can act as a big area screen, and if they're still cheap (need to check) they can be used as speedbumps or for flank harassing. Part of me is also looking at the Hydra and Kyharibdis, but that's more because I like big beasts.

Lots of conversion potential in cities allies too.

Look at the frostheart Phoenix and see that it's Frost aura gives all opponents attacks -1 to wound

With the ghur mage the Phoenix the slann and the skink priests we can literally just play a juggernaut style where we just muscle through things with our behemoths. So many buff spells so little time

I'm completely serious. Tell me which units to order to make something impressive work. I'm traditionally very meh at the, y'know, actual game side of this game and it would be fun to win a game or two before all my local pals figure out what I'm doing and undermine me--I say UNDERMINE ME!--with their sigmarite zombie dragon helicopters.

Sorry at work for another 8 hours but let's try out the most likely one to happen. 2 Scarvet carno/1 scarvet 1 bastiladon, slann, 2 skink priests, frostheart Phoenix, ghur mage.

For fun I'd say fill the rest of your army with knights so they can keep up with your carnos and of course have your secret service with ya slann buddy so he can stay alive longer to keep buffing the big scalybois. And be sure to snag the Shackles spell
    It's kinda worth it.

Yes this is an expensive mess. But it's not on my insanity at trying to make a double dread saurian comp work

For a truly hard to fucking kill comp toss aside the carnos get 2 bastiladons that way you free up some hero slots if you want to snag a skink starpriest for more buffing

I think a Monster Mash list should have a Steg Chief. He is a much better recipient for Prime Warbeast, and he can take the Cloak of Feathers. With that setup, he is easily worth his points. Rend is becoming more important with All-out Defense being a thing. And Stegadons in general will see increased value in their "Armoured Crest" rule, with more MSU on the field.

In the tactics section I have a thread comparing Carnasaurs to Stegadons. So people seem to think that the Skink chief on stegadon is unplayable at it's current point cost of 305. I disagree, I think that it is still very strong. But you might want a look at that thread so you can see what people are talking about.

But some of yall are forgetting. He asked me what I would recommend to him and I gave him a few options so he can experiment. Yall know I'd be like yo throw this 250 dollar mini in there and see what happens

No double scarvet you can't have more than 6 heroes and a frostheart phoenix is counted as one shit. So @Christopher try this instead. It's kind of a standard voltron carno comp
    Slann
    Scarvet carno
    Frostheart phoenix
    Ghur mage
    Skink priest
I will give you the option for your final hero but I'd probably give it to starpriest because why not?
Have fun with your picks afterward

phoenix only counts if you put an annointed on it. So if you're willing to sacrifice the ward save & the halberd attack you can use it as a regular monster.

Until they release an errata to state otherwise, you can take duplicate artefacts across your army.
So you can take two Carnosaurs and give each one a Blade of Realities (assuming you have an extra Enhancement)
