9th Age Discussion of OpenHammer (ETC) and Ninth Age (Swedish Comp)

For something slightly different!
Does this seem to be a first edition "fix" for monsters, like our Carnosaur:

○ Ironcurse Icon 5pts The Wearer and his unit has 6+ ward save against wounds caused by shooting attacks with templates.

○ Emerald Ring 5pts The Wearer and his unit has 6+ ward save against wounds caused by shooting attacks with Armour Piercing.

I mean +6 Ward is at least something :p

so basicly "rock lobbers or wood elves?" pick your poison :D

Razordons:
*Unit size at minimum 2 and not 1.
* Add armour piercing to shots.
* Increase price with 15pts.

With a price increase of 15pts, I don't feel that they would be fielded very often.

One of the developers mentioned they're changing Loremaster to not knowing all spells, but maybe just picking spells. I mentioned that it would make the slann loremaster discipline much worse than it already is now that they changed the attribute.

He asked the following: "Regarding High Magic - we got a lot of feedback and are discussing it internally at the moment. Please comment in the lore thread and share your point of view."

So if anyone got anything we could forward it.

The nice thing about sneak peek #2 is that it now officially codifies that skink chiefs can fire the regadon's giant bow. I was going to post something on this, but it appears that you beat me to it.

It is nice that character walls are a thing of the past. That always seemed kind of abusive to me.

Not bad.. glad to see that characters riding monsters do not have combined profiles.

Is the stegadon a chariot or a monster?

Keep saying it, these guys are doing great stuff. Love these 2 rules very much aswell. For me personally i mostly fight vs empire and demigryphs T5... tbh We didn't use the rules correctly and I always played against T5 Demi's. Just like other monsterous cav i do hope we will see some point increases but i'm pretty sure these guys will do exactly that.

They should add to the sneak peak 3: that if you want to hit characters it can only be the models in base contact and supporting ranks of them. It is pretty obvious but still, the better ruling is explained the less discussions :)

On another note,

And I'm not going to be fantasising, or however you spell it, on this. LM should have Monstrous cav. I mean come on, we with all the monsters... we should have em.
Following that note. There has been some debate on how to make Cold one riders more expensive and how to make our cowboys less good.
For me personally I've come to this: take away our cold ones +2AS rule and just have them +1 to AS like everybody else. This means decreasing the cost for our cold ones but also making our cowboys less good because now we can give them insane AS rolls. Add to that that we can give our riders light armor for some points and voila, still have the 2+AS, changed cowboys to make m a little bit softer and players can opt to not take the armour for taking cheaper COR to put the cowboys in for safety.
Just an idea on that topic.
The cowboy -1 AS will hurt for the most LM players, but lets be fair, it's only normal...
And for god sakes make COR core :p

With the combined profile thing: If you use the highest wound characteristic, and say you have an Oldblood on a Carnosaur, it will only have 5 wounds so 3 wounds are lost.

I would decrease the point cost of most monster mounts then.

Note they specificly say: cavalery, monstrous cav and chariots. Monsters are not mentioned probably will have a different ruleset i think...

Monsters doesn't count.

We already have monstrous cavalry o.O

Both Terradons and Ripperdactyls are monstrous cavalry. Rippers might be harder to play with than the other 2+ armour save MC, but they're still counted as monstrous cavalry.

Very good point. They definitely play differently than what most people think of as monstrous cavalry (Demigrpyhs, Skullcrushers, Rhinox riders), but they are monstrous cavalry none the less. Our monstrous cavalry (especially terradons) plays the role of fast cavalry.

I just want to point out there's a big difference on Rhinox Riders and Mournfang :p

Are cold ones riders too inexpensive?! What price are you guys paying, because I have 35 for just spears and only +2 AS that's in my book a lot...
