Thanks guys! I'd be very flattered to see a painting competition based on these!

If folks are getting inspired to paint, that means I'm doing my job as a sculptor, which is very motivating. I've got a few ideas swirling around in my head on painting them too, so I'd ask that someone else run any eventual "competition", so that I can enter it too.
Anyway, on to the other sculpt! Over the weekend I cut cut off his arms and tail and set them aside for finishing, while the torso gets its final layer of texture added. I have to say that it's always a bit nerve wracking to take out a saw and cut up a miniature like this, but unless you are making a one-off, or a miniature in a mainly 2 dimensional plane, you can't avoid this unpleasantness. Damn these dynamic poses! On the other hand, I always find it fascinating to see a cross section of my work after an amputation, with the bone (armature wire), muscle (hard putty) and skin (greenstuff detail layer) all clearly visible. So here's a photo that you guys might find interesting:
And here are a couple WIP photos of the torso being textured, after about an hour's worth of work:
A final shot from above, which is the angle you'd normally see this piece from when it's on the gaming table:
Matching the other one in style, although not precisely, as there is always some variation in nature and I am trying to have a little fun with this project and not give in to my tendency/compulsion for perfectionism!
