Blog Painting of Renown! (Just kidding... but this is my blog)

So did the PVA glue layer as advised by the lava-painting video on my Fireborn base:

Checked on him this morning and it is mostly dried see-through, just a little bit around the base which will hopefully be fully dry by tonight. I really want to try out the Mordant Earth!!!

Did an additional coat of black on the areas that I'm going to drybrush with Trollslayer Orange:

I think I did too much PVA on the base and possibly too much Mordant Earth as the cracks are HUGE and it kind of loses the lava theme...

I'll try less of the PVA and the Mordant Earth (as per the video the more you put on, the bigger the cracks are going to be.

I also did the flames on the Fireborn 3 and dry-brushed plus first coat on the base of Fireborn 2

Okay, so update, this is Fireborn #2, 3 and now started 4.

Fireborn #2 I experimented with not doing PVA. Made a different effect. I'm not a massive fan so I have to find the middle ground.

Fireborn #3, rewatched the videos on the lava effect and I'm much happier with this guy's base pre-Mordant Earth and PVA

And #4 started! Painfully slow progress (and kinda frustratingly so) but I'm moving ahead

Thanks guys! The forumites feedback definitely helps keep the momentum up on this. Doing the white undercoats is tedious and BORING AS FUDGE.
