Blog Painting of Renown! (Just kidding... but this is my blog)

Bah. Gave up on trying to bend the stuff. Just going to cut pieces to approximate size and then go for broke with the green stuff.

So far, I've laid out the Giant's clothes:

Here he is

Now front set of clothes

Then back

And for hand not holding a club, it will have been "upgraded" by the Daemonsmiths into a flail

I'm going to undercoat and do the basic ash-flesh effect on him before I stick on the armour so I don't have to try and do it around the armour pieces.

Then I'll spray these armour pieces black and affix them.

I think I'll do a dry run first with blue-tac to make sure everything fits and I like the effect.

This guy is going to look very cool. You could use some small jewellers chain to make it look like parts of the armour are chained onto him if there's any bits where it doesn't fit quite right.

Any advice from any expert on how to soften plastic so that you can wrap it or at least bend it so it fits better?

I tried soaking in hot water last night but it didn't really do anything.

@Explodingzeb @Sudsinabucket @Warden @Imrahil @Tyranitar @Padre ?

Thanks in advance.
I'd recommend a Hair Dryer on low, then bend it to where you want. Depending what it is, put a heavy book or two on it to make sure it keeps its shape (so like, for a base for instance).

Sorry for the late reply, seems you got it sorted out though :)

Can't find any blu-tac anywhere, so ordered some off Ebay.

While I'm waiting, I'm going to get going on painting the guys that I'd already built:

My philosophy is now: If you build it, paint it. So I'm holding off on building anything else until I've done the Giant and these guys.

Good philosophy, interesting to see how it holds up against reality :P

Have fun painting!

I too have illusions like that from time to time. It always ends in the same way. I buy more models and build them instead of at least building the ones I own. :D

This course of action perplexed me as we Britons can buy Blu-Tack or White-Tack from the nearest One-Stop or other convenience shop and don't need to support the leviathan that is EBay, but no matter.

Blue-tac arrived, so planned out the armour on my Chaos Siege Giant

Will stick this all on using green stuff and then fill in cracks with it as well.

Personally I would say it needs a bit more 'Chaos-Dwarfing', as currently it looks like a Giant trying to impersonate an Imperial Knight ;). Clipping off the Imperial Knight ornamentation on the headpiece and chestpiece, sculpting some Chaos Dwarf Runes out of Green Stuff, and perhaps even making a metal tentacle beard would help to ground it more into a Dawi-Zharr army.

I'm down with scratching off Imperial ornamentation.

Not sure if I'm confident enough to do Runes out of green stuff. I'll take a look at them in my army book and see if there are any I feel confident enough to do.

Okay, so I spent last night's "hobby period" carefully scraping off all non-CD heraldry from the pieces I'm going to use for my Chaos Siege Giant and I also realized that I can do the green stuff CD runes before I stick on the armour pieces and this will make it totally doable. Great stuff! (based on the advice of @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl cheers matey).
