Nice work! Looks much better than the Imperial iconography.

@Explodingzeb I like that idea, it would certainly help to get nice clean edges and remove the 'blobbiness' that most unmodified greenstuff sculpts achieve.

I received a packet of greenstuff for Christmas last year, for use in a big project for my Beastmen, I really should start learning to sculpt with it...

Still working over the runes. They at least look flat IRL but it still looks a bit meh to me.

It's very finickity work, but I'm going to try to do more tonight on the straight lines and flatness of them.

May I make a suggestion for next time?

Sharpie or fine-line pen out the straight lines before you sculpt. It's not like anyone will see them after priming and painting

Yeah, fair enough. Do you mean putting on a flat piece of green stuff and then cutting out the shape from it?

I tried that and it just started stretching and warping the rest, so I ended up rolling out very thin and long pieces of green stuff and making the rune from that.

Greenstuff is bendy even after hardening. Next time, try to make flat surface, leave it to dry a bit (not completely), then cut out runes and after it is completely dry, slightly prebend them and superglue them on armor.

I think I'll try that now to be honest. I'm not 100% happy with the runes.

Plus to add on that yes, I meant sharpie directly on the armor plate pre-greenstuff
 
Okay, thanks for everyone that's weighed in on this.

I'm redoing the runes (as originally nicely suggested by @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl ). I've rolled out (ish) green stuff am waiting for it to basically fully cure based on @JTSleep said about it still being bendy afterwards. I'm then going to follow @Lord-Marcus 's advice and draw on the runic patterns with a small ruler and pen. Then cut based on this.

We'll see how we do.

Just beware that I said it is bendy even when fully cured, but I said to wait just a bit befre cutting it out. Wait till it is just semi-cured (let´s say hour). This way it is not sticky anymore and harder, but it is still manageable to carve and shape a bit.

Yeah, no worries. It's a good set of experimenting with green stuff to be honest as this is the first time I'm using it.

Mainly the comments on this blog are helpful in getting me to think outside of the box.

look up micron pens, and get a set. they are probably cheap on prime day.

micron pens will work better on the plastic then a regular pen.
