Blog Something Big this way comes....(***For Sale***)

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 6th***)

Ok folks...sorry for the long delay in posting.... here is what is completed (Pics coming soon)

All 25 skinks for the army on the jungle floor (PAINTED)

10 of them will be sealed in resin (the river) the other 15 will be running through the jungle

All 6 Terradons have been painted

Only 15 more skinks to paint from the Howdah platforms.

Then the whole month of July is being dedicated to the trees, bushes and other aspects of the over all project.

Then its off to Games Day in Chicago.

Anyone going to be there?

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 24th***)

My buddy and I don't have tickets yet.. but we are planning on being there! Only a bit less than 3 hours away from chicago from here. I'll really like to check it out when I get there!

Here are my Skinks running in the river section.....(I will be touching up their feet and fixing some details but they are read for the Resin river to flow around them...about waist high.)

This is a phenomenal piece! One of the greatest things this site offers, is the ability to watch projects across the country, or even the globe be completed step by step. Half the fun is seeing how a project is done! This piece of work that you're doing really is an inspiration for me to push forward and think more creatively about my own miniatures, and the whole Warhammer world. Like everyone has said, this is just a great piece, one of those pieces you're glad you got to see during your lifetime. lol Anyway, just wanted to gush a little and give my compliments to an absolutely incredible piece of work! Just fantastic!

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Lookin' real good! Looks like you're almost there! I may be going to the Games Day there in Chicago so if I do I'll make sure to look you up. Hope it all goes well. I'll keep you in the loop.

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Loving the progress with it and am looking forward to seeing it in real life :)

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Not sure if it was asked yet (long thread! lol) but where did you get all those trees? Ive been looking for some like those at the local Walmart's and other like-stores with no luck. Again, sorry if it's a repeated question.

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

First I have to say thanks to everyone and their absolutely positive feedback. It really helps when taking on a project like this...

I have to say this is one of the best thing anyone has ever said to me about my work and love of the hobby. Thank you very much.

Yes I will be at Games Day 2011 this year in Chicago hoping for a entry into the Armies on Parade and a North American Win!!!!! Vote for me if you are there :) LOL

As far as the trees... I got them all on EBAY... they come from Korea and are pretty inexpensive when you get them in larger orders... I will try to find the link I went too... I searched Jungle trees or Palm trees... don't remember.

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Absolutely breathtaking. You, my friend, are a true champion of the Old Ones.

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Yep, absolutely amazing piece. Really fantastic! This is without doubt the best wargaming piece I have ever seen. The steg skull above the Slann looks particularly impressive I think. People who get to see it in person at Games Day are very very lucky.

I do agree that looking closely at the trees lets it down a tiny bit since they aren't as realistic as the rest of the diorama; the first picture showing the river doesn't even have the tree properly in the ground. But you said you are going to work on that, so no marks off. :)

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Awesome and very artistic! I can't wait to see it at Gamesday! Though Im a bit envious at all those steg bits as I don't even have a singel steg yet. lol. I also setiment another persons post - your project has inspired me to look deeper at this hobby than I have ever before. Conversions, model scenes.. I mean wow! Just inspiring! :D

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

well i have to say, iv been wating for this moment since god knows how long (cause i dont :D !!) and finnaly its come.. and what ni had planned to say has simply gone from my mind....the peice is just.....some thing so good you cant quite describe it, i love the sun shade idea with the stegadon head, that looks amasing, i ove the skink presitst war paint, i too have something simalar on my slann and i love the armour of it...its safe to say i love all of it i think ;) could i put forward a suggestion? i think with the trees, it may not be do-able but i think it would look reallyy nice if the thunderlizard was in some deep jungle, so lotsa vines and maybe a bit more variation in trees, i know you havnt started the trees so just an idea you could think about, cant wait to see it comepletly finished....simply amasing

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Sweet update! The river looks so realistic and just utterly amazing. Of course, did any of us here expect anything less? I think not.

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

That's looking really sweet!
The river looks really still and clear, not what I immediately think of when I think jungle river, but really nice none the less!

I think the trees would benefit from the ol' lick o' paint, but as your planning to do that its fine!

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

I love this community....everyone of your comments and suggestions is really helping this become more then just a display....but a real dynamic scene. One of my best buds at my local gaming store, http://www.battlegroundgames.com/ suggested that I make a sling for my Terradons to carry rocks since bending and manipulating the metal model would be difficult and not look completely correct... So with this is mind I came up with this.....

mini-DSC_0226.jpg

mini-DSC_0227.jpg

mini-DSC_0225.jpg

Now to go along this theme I have the Rock pile loading platform on the tail of the Thunder Lizard. It now supports a staff of 1 Skink who holds up the harnesses for the Terradons to swoop in and grab to rearm.

mini-DSC_0228.jpg

And of course you need some supplies with that so take a look here....

mini-DSC_0230.jpg

Your thoughts?

I will be working on adding some moving water trails and effects to the river, and the trees will all be airbrushed. and inked. More to come....

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

That sling idea is awesome!!! It looks really dynamic and it's a great addition to an already great (that word isn't strong enough but I'll use it for lack of a better one) project.

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Best way to sum it up is *nerd-and-eye-gasm*!!!
But no seriously, it is stunning fabulous work, and I think the Slann's Stego helmet thingie is wicked.
And who said the Sacred Stegadon Helm was skink only ;)

I really like how you have, like, 3+ attending skink priests to the super engine and the river running look amazing and well, just it is all amazing!

What are you going to do next, is the question? ;)

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

The idea to have a rock ammo point for your teradons is awesome. I'm saving the pics so I can try to do this later.

Re: Something Big this way comes....(***Update June 25th***)

Thanks everyone... I love hearing your thoughts / feelings. For my next project....is something much bigger then a 2x2 board.......maybe a 6x4 :) After games day I will see to starting that project :)
